Video calls : The speech of the dumb

"So I will be leaving tomorrow."
"You will be missed honey."
" I will miss you too Pa."
And his daughter went seven oceans away from him. The next morning he woke up and had his tea amiss his tea partner. That day there was no one for whom he would beep the horn million times... there was no one whose name he would scream from inside the car and tell her to hurry up. He had a glimpse of his side seat, closed his eyes for a moment, mesmerized the smile of his daughter and started his journey. On his way back home, he had no stoppages since his daily pick up was waiting for a ride miles away with an unknown driver. There was no rush in the home, it was all quiet. Demising silence that they experienced years back, seemed to make its home again. Until his phone said "You have a video call from Disha." He danced like a child and smiled like never before. There she was miles apart yet so close to her daddy. Both rejoiced the conversation which was full of love and care. The smart phone she gifted him last month felt like a blessing to him for it brought his little princess closer to him. He slept like a baby that night.
Indeed, technology sometimes proves itself to be a blessing to the citizens of this fast evolving world. While the geographical distance between two closely related beings increase, technology acts as a helping hand in making them feel the distance lesser through facilities such as video calls. A parent who is at a distance from his child, family members that are afar from their loved ones, friends who are cities apart, roomates who no longer share the same shelter, all are grateful to this new application of video calling. It had proved to be boon for distant relationships.
Thankful to the video calling applications for I can talk to the people I miss whenever it feels like.
My live experience about video calls being a blessing was on a city bus.
Unlike my daily routine, I had decided to travel in a city bus that day. On my journey while I was lost in the world of music and my own thoughts, my eyes suddenly paused on a man sitting diagonal to me in the adjacent column of the bus. He was doing some weird hand movements and actions. Later I noticed, that he was on a video call supposably with his loved one in this no so crowded bus. It took me a couple of minutes of staring to understand that he was specially abled. He couldn't talk but his sign language spoke beyond words. And after staring at him and his mobile screen shamefully I saw that the lady, who was on the other side of the call was also enacting her statements through sign language. I was awestruck after witnessing this amazing moment of affection. These strangers whose speech was taken away from them by the universal creator,  were communicating through a video call via sign languages without a hitch of their disability.  This facility of video calling indeed proved to be a medium not only for communication but also for looking at each other's smiling faces.  This smile that I saw on his face while talking to his loved one was itself enough to evoke and spread the ideology of optimism i.e. being positive and happy in about every situation. I wouldn't say that video calls play the role of the foundation on which they might be building their relationship but video calls indeed act as a supporting pillar for the palace of love that they are about to construct.
Lastly I would say, video calling is not only a  mere invention of the technology but it is also the speech of the dumb and the sound for the deaf.
